Caerphilly County Borough Council has plans afoot to cease funding Blackwood Miners Institute together with Llancaiach Fawr Manor and the Councils Meals On Wheels service. All three facilities are under threat of closure as a result. Approximately one thousand people took to the streets of Blackwood on Saturday 7/9/24 to show their support for the facilities and opposition to the Councils plans for closure.

UPDATE 2/2/25:
Whilst Llancaich Fawr has now closed Blackwood Miners Institute has been reprieved for a further twelve months during which time a new way of funding/running the venue is being investigated. Thanks to all who voiced their opinions during the campaign and let's hope a new management model can be found to keep The Stute open for years to come.
